Bali seemed like the perfect holiday destination to escape Australia and unwind. I travelled to Ubud and found a perfect place to go through a detox program both physically and mentally. Set amongst the beautiful Balinese greenery, I stayed in a place called Kubudi. I had my own home and was surrounded by 5 balinese wellness carers.
My diet consisted of liquid vegetable juices and vegetable broths. At first I thought it would be incredibly difficult and I would be sure to be in an awful mood, however being on a restricted diet of concentrated nutrients and vitamins was actually incredibly calming and relaxing. I would get a couple of cravings throughout the day, but these cravings were more than just a need for a taste.
I continued the detox for 10 days and throughout that time I had a ball engaging in activities such as snorkeling in the beautiful east bali blue lagoons. I swam in the hot springs of an old volcano. I took a trip into the rice fields and mountains whilst being led by a balinese herbalist. For exercise, I was involved in daily yoga followed by massages. Ubud was a great area to be in to get away from the hustle and bustle. I lost 2kg in 10days and felt not only cleansed internally but I also had a cleansed mind. My stomach was flat and I felt leaner.
After the detox finished I made a trip to Seminyak. This is of course a largely populated tourist area, which was quite a change from my relaxing detox. None the less I explored every inch possible. I visited beautiful locations and restaurants such as Ku De Ta which had a beautiful view and amazing asian inspired food and service. Karama Kandara at Nammos was incredibly beautiful, the scenery was like nothing I had ever seen before. Crystal clear blue oceans along a water front restaurant and beach front villas. Sentosa was a lovely restaurant with devine desserts. Rock Bar’s 2 hour wait was something to be expected after witnessing its beauty during sunset. Potato Head had an amazing vibe, fabulous music and a delicious menu. Sarrongs indian inspired dishes were incredibly tasty and the decor was very beautiful. The W’s sunday brunch had an array of food selection, most enjoyed was the oysters, smoking candy and salmon omlette. Sea Circus had the most amazing smashed avocado and poached eggs breakfast, so much so that I woke up craving this every morning. La Lucciola’s scallops and stuffed zucchini flowers were absolutely devine. indulged in predominately oysters and fruits and felt as though I was still eating clean.
Bali is a beautiful place and I cannot wait to go back.
