Our Brooklyn Apartment

Ok guys, this post is WELL overdue and is something that I’ve had on my to do list for months now. But here it is: a mini tour of our NYC apartment! We’ve spent a LOT of time in this apartment over the last few months. Even though it’s a one bedroom, it still feels quite spacious and is perfect for just the two of us.

ENTRYWAY
We have put our bar cart immediately upon entry to our apartment (one because we love a drink on entry, two because there’s literally no where else to put it!). This Target bar cart was one of the first things we purchased for our apartment when we moved to NYC 4.5 years ago, and it’s still one of my favorite things in the house. I’d always wanted a bar cart and this one has really held up over the years and still looks amazing. And it’s such a good price!

KITCHEN

I absolutely love cooking, so having an open plan kitchen was very important to me so I could chat to Alex or guests while being in the kitchen. Being Australian, be absolutely LOVE our coffee. This Delonghi coffee machine was an investment, but in our eyes is so worth it. It makes the best coffees (both iced in summer, and hot in winter!) and the best thing about it is that I no longer have to spend $6 on an average latte in NYC ever again!

 DINING ROOM
This area is the space we just recently updated (we got new dining chairs, mirror and buffet). and I think it has to be my favorite in our apartment. I love how it’s come together. Our dining chairs are from France & Son and while they’re not cheap, I really think they add so much to the room. I also absolutely adore this arched black framed mirror from Crate & Barrel. I looked for the right mirror for this space for ages and was so happy once I finally discovered this one – it’s perfect on the buffet and I think it’s a great price for the quality.

DINING TABLE

As mentioned before, we love having dinner parties so having enough space in our apartment to host friends was a must. I know it’s SO rare to be able to have a dining table in the city, so the fact that we have enough space to fit 4 at the dining table is a huge plus for us!

I recently picked up some new decor items from H&M Home (the best), including these new plates which I love!

LIVING ROOM

Welcome to our living room! I absolutely love this area in our apartment. It’s the perfect set up for us to relax and watch movies (or Alex to play Playstation – ha!). We recently updated this area from old IKEA furniture to some newer more grown up pieces and I think it really made the room feel more sophisticated. We’ve had this print from St Frank textiles since we first moved to NYC and I still adore it. It’s set in a lucite frame which makes it look so edgy.

Our sofa is from Article and it’s really held up well. We actually are getting a new one in a couple of weeks though as I really want a white couch, but still love the way that this one looks!

For our media area, I really wanted a console where I could place 2 narrow shelves either side to help frame the TV. I think these work really well in the space, and they’re so fun to style with books and other decorative objects! They also go perfectly with the black hardware of our media console which I love so much.

We’ve been meaning to mount the TV but haven’t gotten around to it yet – honestly it doesn’t really bother me!

BEDROOM

This is the room where I spend most of my time, as I use my vanity area as a desk, and also the fact that Alex has taken over the living room to play COD (hence the two TV’s!). I absolutely love my little desk/vanity set up – it’s definitely a bit more feminine than our living room but I still think it fits well with the overall vibe of the apartment.
