As I mentioned in this post, denim has definitely made a big comeback this season, and I’ve been wearing it as much as possible. As much as I love it, it can be daunting jumping from the humble denim shorts or jeans to a head to to look, so here are 3 tips for pulling off 70’s style denim:

  • Go for tan: The 70’s was all about tan leather, with suede being the number one fabric of choice. Pick browns over black when choosing your shoes, bags and belts to get the most genuine 70’s look.
  • Don’t over do your bling: Simplicity is best when it comes to pulling off this look, and your shoes & bag should be the statement pieces.  Keep jewellery to a minimum and opt for small, delicate pieces, such as this ring and bracelet from Samantha Wills, or if you’re desperate for something to wear on your neck, go for a tied thin scarf.
  • Be comfortable: Don’t go too far out of your comfort zone and wear something that’s completely not the norm for you. I would never feel comfortable wearing denim belle bottoms as I never, ever wear flares, however wearing an all denim playsuit wasn’t too far of a stretch for me as I wear playsuits all the time.
